I already have my new Panasonic GX1, but shall not let go my beloved LX7. As far as I remember, no other camera has this combination of size, zoom, lens apertures, optional viewfinder, and price. Some are more pocketable, but have worse apertures and no viewfinder. Some have bigger sensors, much worse apertures. And the genius is in the details. Yesterday I was reminded of how essential the neutral density filter can be. And I love the pictures I get from the LX7, especially after a little treatment in Lighroom, and I love its ergonomics.
Enough. Let us have some pictures. The first was taken from inside a moving car, the second in the late evening.

I have made a mistake, my LF1 does not use the same sensor as the LX7. Never mind, lets not get too strung up on technical bits. My photo does not belong in this thread but I still want to make a comment. I am delighted with the LF1 and do not regret parting with my G1 and GF1. I had an LX3 in the past and have seen great results from the LX5 & LX7, in summary a superb series of cameras. Having a big one is not always the way to satisfaction.

Are you in Hatteras now? You lucky devil - I love it down on the OBX! Frisco is where we usually stay. So this is your new D-Lux or LX? So many great little cameras!

I hope you catch the big kahuna wave - to surf in on! Ocracoke is great...love the ferry! I am so jealous. Next year we're going down!

yes, Ocracoke is a special place. My wife wants to head straight there next time!

While waiting for the evening ferry back to Hatteras, I took some shots of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid's lights. Automotive lighting design has come a long way in the last 30 years!

And the tail light looks atomic!

The usability of the LX7 excels; so easy to adjust exposure and get shots like this.
