Proud of myself - I managed to replicate the M8 green line

and this is why

it happens in natural light as well - it is well known but only happens now and again - only the second time since I bought the camera - two years ago - I think

I've never had this anomaly on a Leica. I think bright/stray light that hits the calibration portion of the CCD causes the problem? I read that somewhere.

ah in that case I haven't seen the green line yet on my Leica.

I do not think that the more wealthier members of the Leica Society, (i.e. those with M9s and Summilux), have these "optional" factory fitted extras

and maybe your M8 was not fitted with these options

Maybe the wealthier members of the Leica society get beautiful bright golden sun-flare-like lines in their photos.

The rest of us get cheap gangrene green, rashy red, and darker-than-the-depths-of-hell dark lines instead.

but surely you have the "coffee cup" stain on your LCD - that's a "must have" - mine appeared after 6 months and up to that time I really felt left out
