Back in October I travelled down to the city of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia to spend a few days wandering the city. This is the second time that I have been there but the first time was to attend the 2007 Australian Formula One GP and didn't see much outside of the racetrack.

This time my visit was during the springtime and despite the city's reputation for variable weather we didn't do too badly with just a few overcast skies and the odd bit of drizzle. The following are a selection of the images that I came home with.

Melbourne's famous graffiti laneways:

nice work Nic, inspires me to want to visit again....never good for the credit card though as Melbourne has the best boutique stores this side of the Pacific....and my tastes are expensive and will is weak.

Not too far from Philly
you should be able to figure it out...
Nice work Nic. I've seen most (and commented on a few) of the non-graffiti shots on Flickr. I always feel funny about shooting graffiti (other people's art and all), but seeing these I realize I shouldn't - I'm really glad you shot these and are sharing them. Otherwise, they'd only be seen in Melbourne and I really enjoyed seeing them from the States...

Thanks Mark. What does one buy in a boutique store? :) I made it out of Melbourne with just a hemp satchel-come-camera-bag from the Queen Victoria Markets

The outdoor shots in #11-19 are stunning. Well done.

Thanks Tony. While some of them might look nice enough in the photos, I dubbed Melbourne to be the City of Ugly Bridges :). When you see them all together they just don't compliment each other at all.

Cheers Ray. Like you say, shooting graffiti doesn't require a whole lot of input from the photographer to photograph what is someone's else's creation but from a pure documentary point-of-view I don't have a problem with it.
