I could not find a thread like this, so I figured why not start one

Anyway time for some blatant self promotion:eek:

I have started a new website/blog called "Beyond the Gilded Cage" for the new year and my new project. So check it out

Washington DC Street Photography

it is 100% free and will be updated every day :)

all the work will be shot with my Samsung TL500/EX1

also I would love to know what kind of blatant self promotion you can do for yourself so post away

lets see your blogs, flickrs, websites, etc

Wally, thanks for this thread! I've been thinking about how it would be nice to have one place for people to post links to their own blogs and photo websites. We've got https://www.photographerslounge.org/f14/photography-websites-worth-your-time-843/ but no one has ventured to "blatant self promotion" on it, so now we're all set with this thread! An excellent start for the new year!

My only site on Flickr: BB's Flickr stream which has my name as "otra" and "BBW", the first is an acronym for a longer "handle" I chose quite a few years ago when I became involved in a Yahoo user group for MINI Cooper enthusiasts. I've used Flickr for a variety of reasons over the years, whereas now I tend to use it to come out of my digital darkroom and stay in touch with my photo friends who also enjoy seeing each other's work.

I hope the rest of our members will add their sites here, even if they already have them within their signature line. This way we'll have a one place to check into as a resource.

This thread is very timely as I have just redone my web site. I made is smaller and cleaner, in fact it may be too clean. I chose white as I want people to concentrate on my images and not the site. The site is much bigger than first appears but the only two areas of interest or I hope of interest and they are Photos and Blog.

Photos is a both a labour of love and a blatant self promotion site. These are all images I like, not all images I do, and maybe not even the best but they are the ones I like from the past year. I teach photography on the South Shore so it is also a place to inspire students both present past and hopefully future. The one thing that is not apparent from my site is the images are all shot with in the last year as I believe I should remain current and active.

My Blog is as all blogs go a bit rambling and personal. I erase my blog every year and start a fresh, therefore depending on when you get to it it may be sparse or rich. It is a place where I talk about the pictures I take, how I take them and even my feelings behind them. I have had a few people tell me that they find them very useful and I am happy about this. Truth is it is a very personal look into my creative side.

As well as that I do keep a reasonably active flickr.

Great work there Wally and thanks for the thread. Your work is wonderful and each shot tells a story. Grant I really like where your blog is going, nice work. And for Little Miss BB...you know I've been all over your stuff, Love your eye for pics and life in general.

As for me I started a photoblog but in my old age have turned it around and is a life blog with personal and boring life experiences. I do have a small flickr site, don't laugh!
Looking forwars to reading everyones blog/photo site. Hey I can do that, I'm not working!

Cheers,
Pete

Too many.

My main one is my smugmug site which I am slowly adding to though I still have a large backlog of pictures from Munich to go on there.

Right now I have three blogs on the go which I am struggling to keep up with so I might kill one off. But for now I'm at tbilisi daily photo which does exactly what it says on the tin. I'm also at lumix by olli - an attempt to find a home for all the pictures I've taken with my LX3 since I acquired it just over a year ago. Then there is photography by olli - a vehicle for my occasional thoughts on photography, though since I haven't had any thoughts worth sharing recently it's been a while since I posted anything there.

I've also acquired two flickr accounts along the way - here and here - though I tend to use these mostly for storage rather than display.

Then there are my no longer updated blogs at our man in tirana, olli in munich, olli in munich photoblog etc. but I think that might be enough for now.

Lets keep them coming. I'm enjoying looking at everyone's work.

Very difficult to believe my friend. However, you certainly do have more than a few places to cover!!

John, love the pictures of Jake. A fine memorial. Every time I see shots like this I keep thinking I need to take more of my dog Bella and post them up.

Thanks, Olli. I still have trouble looking through that gallery. We've had lots of dogs, but he was the best.
I know how heart breaking it is to lose a best friend. I grew up with family dogs and havehad at least one of my very own since my junior year in college (1975), when I could live off campus. I am very sorry to see that Jake is not with you anymore, John. If you haven't yet read this, you and any other dog lover here really should. It's by Eugene O'Neill written from the point of view of his dog Blemie: The Last Will and Testament of Silverdene Emblem O'Neill. Be prepared, it's very moving.

A friend of mine encouraged me to take pictures of our dog especially once we knew he was unwell and I did. I am very glad I did... Then when we got our dog Johnnie Walker, I started a set devoted to him, as well. He is featured in quite a few of my photos. Those of us who have pets know how much they mean to us, and we to them.

What a wonderful thread and also wonderful to learn about websites of fellow SC members!
I have four websites/blogs (I like to overdo things :)
Mayank Bhatnagar (My serious, fine art work)
Mayank's Viewpoint (day-to-day but series-wise photographs)
Flickr: Mayank Bhatnagar's Photostream (day-to-day photographs)
Out of the Ordinary (my Jaipur Photoblog) (some black and white images of my hometown)
Hi Mayank - I enjoyed your pics a lot. I noticed you have a Canon A720 IS: I have the rather smaller and cheaper A590 IS, which I consider one of the best compacts ever produced. Full manual control with focus-area zoom and match-needle metering in a camera costing around 100 euros is considerable. Excellent macro too - I have used it for very creditable shots of pen nibs. A very serious compact.

Cheers,

John

John, thanks for your kind words. I have long been a fan of Canon A series cameras and feel sad to see their sad state today (the newer ones are mere toys in comparison to what they used to be a couple of years ago, imho). I had an A95, then A620, then A640 and finally the A720 IS. I had the A590 IS for a brief while too and agree that it's a great camera. You must try the CHDK hack for A590 for live histogram (which is very helpful) and of course, raw shooting capabilities (it can shoot in the now widely accepted DNG format).
