Fuji More new Fuji CSC rumors (drool, drool, drool)

the image is clearly a Photoshop. I sure hope the grip is more elegant than that.

Obviously a photoshop, supposedly from Fuji and not one of the several fan mockups that were based on the leaked, blurry assembly images. The originating site apparently leaked it early and Fuji already made them take it down. Then it went to petapixel and other places.

It wasn't easy but I held off and did not buy an X100, an Oly 45mm lens, or any native Nex primes. If I fall in love with this Fuji, then I will have had enough GAS restraint & will sell everything to buy it.

Another Photoshop mockup of the FujiFilm LX10.

Fuji LX mirrorless camera leaked | Photo Rumors

As someone who was very skeptical about both the X100 and X10, but ended up with both and love both of them, I'm cautiously interested in this one. I'm VERY happy with m43 for my interchangeable lens system and I've got pretty much all of the lenses. The bodies are great, and diverse, and lenses are very very good, and the IQ is also more than good enough to satisfy me. The X100 is better, but only to an extent I really care about in very low light. I'll stay open minded about this cam and if the camera's performance is good and the lenses are fast without being too big, I guess I could end up with it to handle some of what the EPL3 does, but the EPL3 would continue to be the go-to for a lot of what I do. OTOH, even if the IQ is stellar (which I frankly expect it will be), unless the lenses are a whole lot smaller than what Sony's been able to come up with for the Nex, I don't see moving over. But if the viewfinder is great and there's a really fine three lens series of primes, I might sell off a few m43 lenses (maybe even the X100, but I doubt it) and move some of its function over to the Fuji. Maybe. I'm open to it, not terribly skeptical, but not at all sure it's gonne make me want to change the basis for my ILC system, which I'm already very happy with. Or I might just keep the X100 as the amazing low light specialist and change of pace camera it is, keep the X10 for when I want to travel really light, and keep on with m43 as my go anywhere, do anything system, and add a second body. I will no doubt add another ILC body sometime this spring, whether it'll be an EP3, something new from Oly, or a new Fuji isn't yet for sure. But if its an EP3, that wouldn't suck even a little bit, so the new stuff is gonna have to have some clear advantages to win my dollar on this one.

I've got to think it will launch early with a normal lens, as they already have the 35mm equivalent covered by the X100.

I wonder how this will go selling against the X100 (or vice versa), assuming there is no great price differential between the two. Given the choice I would take an interchangeable lens camera any day of the week, but I have no idea if that is a majority view or not.

I've seen a $1500 figure, which I'm guessing is body only. This looks like they are targeting it specifically at the Nex7, despite what would be an obvious MP difference. I'm guessing they will go and target based on the shooting experience and handling, as opposed to the spec sheet. Also the Leica in a Fuji body angle goes, as well.

Hopefully it's not riddled with problems and bugs like the X100 and X10.

I can't imagine not wanting the option to change lenses... And that's coming from me with two cameras that I really like, the X100 and the X10, both with fixed lenses. How's that for turn about? Well, it's really not a turn about... I am extremely fond of the controls on both of my Fujis and feel the X100 in particular has beautiful image quality.

Back to my not listening and not looking corner. Seriously, though, I am interested in seeing what they come out with, even though I do not see it in the cards for me to be able to afford the combination of lens or lenses and body.

If you find the X100 and X10 "riddled with problems and bugs", you might just not share Fuji's philosophy of how a camera is supposed to work. The only enduring problem the X100 had was the sticky aperture blades, which was very serious for those afflicted. Hopefully, they have that worked out. Other than that, people complain about slow auto focus, but I find it perfectly acceptable. No, its not as fast as the current round of m43 cameras or the new Nikon 1 series or any DSLR and if that's your standard of comparison, its slow. But I don't find that to be a bug - it forces a different approach to shooting that I personally love. The X100 is supposed to be a cheap Leica, no - the best of which don't even offer auto focus... Other than that, I'd sort of like it if they'd change the ISO menu a bit, but that hasn't really been an issue and I basically love the X100. It has a few quirks, but they've just become part of the charm of the camera. No serious problems or bugs other than the SAB issue.

And the X10??? It has white orbs. Which some people have found occasionally. Many have not and many more may have but would never notice. I've found one of my shots with them (out of a couple thousand), but had to look REALLY hard to figure out that's what I was seeing and they don't hurt the shot. I consider it a minor problem that will be great if they can fix, but not even remotely close to a deal-breaker if they don't. Other than that, a few complaints here and there, about the same as with any other camera, but not even close to riddled with problems and bugs!

I think most of the people getting hysterical about these cameras just fundamentally don't like them. That's fine. I personally wouldn't like the X100 as an only camera - I like to shoot in ways its not conducive to a lot of the time. But I also LOVE to shoot with it in the ways it IS conducive too and would say its probably my favorite camera, if my least versatile and athletic. It took me a little longer than most cameras to really learn but once I did I haven't had a single problem with it. Neither of these cameras are perfect, but I think the "flaws" are greatly overblown by folks who were expecting something different than what these cameras offer.

BUT.... the character of the X100, as much as I love it, is NOT what I'd want in my primary, everyday, camera or system. Which is why I have a bit of trouble seeing it replacing any of my m43 gear, which also has tradeoffs, but which falls really easily into that role for me...

I have also seen the $1500 figure that snake mentioned for body only. figure a quality lens in the $500-$800range and it shouldn't cut into the X100 sales. and who knows, maybe the X100 gets a price drop. Perhaps an X100 for $999 and the LX1 with a lens for $1999?

If it's an EXR Sensor I wouldn't touch it :(
As impressed as I've been with EXR in the X10, I'd be really interested in what Fuji could do with the same technology with a 16mp (or larger) m43 or APS sensor. When Fuji started talking about 'equal or better noise control to a full frame DSLR sensor' (or whatever they said along those lines) I started wondering if that's what they had in mind? I don't think APS really needs it - the best APS sensors are REALLY good at both low light and DR, but who knows what's possible? With the X10 I've already accepted that I'd rather shoot with a really great 6mp sensor than a merely very good 12mp one, so I could easily see preferring a truly amazing 8mp sensor to a really really good 16mp version. I could see EXR doing wonderful things with a larger sensor and a few more pixels. I sort of doubt Fuji is going in that direction, but I'd be fascinated to check it out if they did....

very well said

Well, clearly I'm with Ray's point of view, because I have both cameras and, as stated, I enjoy both very much. If I were in a different position, I'm sure I'd love to have an interchangeable APS-C camera. Only time will tell what Fuji really comes out with. It certainly will be fun watching it roll out, that I do know.

Some speculation that the sensor may not be APS-C but in fact smaller. The leaked images show the lens mount as being quite small in relation to the overall height of the body, so either the camera is quite big, or the lens mount and sensor is relatively small.
