Mrs L and I have recently returned from Moscow - well, I say recently. We were there at the beginning of March, just as the whole Crimea thing was coming to a head. It was interesting to read the local (English language) newspapers and to see the way that demonstrations were treated - it was basically pro-Putin good, pro-Ukraine bad - at least as far as the riot police snatch-squads were concerned.

I took my GR, and my X-E1 with just the 14, 18-55 and 35mm lenses. Much of what we saw I shot in colour, but I do think that Moscow in Winter lends itself nicely to moody mono.

See if you agree...

I certainly do think Moscow lent it self beautifully to black and white - or moody mono - beautifully Bill! What an interesting trip - timing wise, as well as just being there. It looks as though it was still rather chilly.

My favorites are the Kremlin Walls, Stalin's "Seven Sisters" and the ominously powerful Hilton Leningradskya - wow! Do you think your room was "bugged"?:wink_old:

Thank you all for your kind comments. This trip feels like a lifetime ago now! With hindsight I don't think I will go back to Moscow, but I would love to now go to St Petersburg... ;)
