Pentax Need Help... my K-01 wont work

i bought a pentax k-01 online and it came without a lens. so i bought two Vivitar lens from a guy. the two lens(Vivitar 28mm f2.8 and Viviar 80-200mm f4.5) were used and for a film camera. they both fit perfectly on the camera and show images. but... when there is a red flashing F-- on the bottom of the screen that wont allow me to take pictures. now i don't know a lot about cameras but i don't think that's normal. can anyone help me? please & thank you

I'm assuming those lenses are manual lenses. You will need to tell the camera what focal length they are, you'll also have to go into settings and set the camera to allow "A" (for manual aperture) and then you'll be able to turn the aperture ring on the lenses. Then, you'll be manually focussing as well (advantage for you is focus peaking... makes manual focus so much better). Of course, I may have completely missed the point, but I hope this helps somewhat.
