Ricoh New GRii on vacation

Hi folks. Recently bought the GR as I needed a small camera to take on our family vacation. My initial thoughts after using it exclusively for the trip:
  • its a real non-obstructive camera. It really doesn't get in the way.
  • I'm still learning to get the the best out of it.
  • It pulls you into *street*.
  • I miss some sort of *shake reduction* - especially when trying snap focus. I'll have to get used to this.
  • Oh, dust-on-sensor issue is real :)
Here are some photos of the trip (Nassau, Bahamas).

Great series of images and I agree with all your comments about the GR.

I've missed my GR since I sold it a couple years back. The GRII wasn't what I hoped for in the next model, but the GRIII looks to be the ticket. Will likely be an owner again, once I can confirm the new lens is as good as the existing one.

Keep your pics coming!

Thanks for the kind comments. Definitely gonna keep shooting :)

Nice work! For me, the GRII stands out not as a street camera exactly, but as a "snapshot camera" which happens to also be how Ricoh characterizes it. Which is to say, super fast to bring out, aim, adjust parameters, focus, snap. Not confined to any genre of photography, but as a lightning fast extension of the hand.

I put image stabilization on my wishlist before the GRIII was announced, and some people ridiculed that choice when stated by me and others, but it's gold to have in nearly any situation. A lot of people, I think, restrict themselves to shooting the GR in daytime situations (perhaps due to the hit or miss low light AF, and poor high ISO) but IBIS really helps when the light gets more interesting.
