It's that time of year again...

Here is this year's crop of Nick shots. All shot with the 56 this time around.

Thanks Luke. The third is my favourite too. When he asked me this is what I said "There is expectation in your eyes. The future." For me that's what makes it stand out.

I do very little to these in post. A tweak to levels and contrast, a little dodging and burning then a run through Topaz B&W.

I started shooting this series on film, with Leica, then one year of Leica glass on Ricoh (GXR) and Fuji ever since.

The 56 is a lens that brings out the best in the subject and flatters the photographer. It is the lens that you would pull from my cold, dead hands.

A truly lovely series.
I think my favorite is the 4th - when his head seems partially haloed by the white square behind - there is something in his expression, I'm not certain what the correct adjective might be ... quizzical? No that's not it, it's almost as though he has seen something, assessed it, and now is ready for whatever may come next.
It's a great photo, in my opinion.

Another great series of Nick photos. I, too, am happy to see them every year. Nick looks like he's doing well.
