Nikon Showcase Nikon D600 Image Appreciation Thread

The AF speed is still pretty slow on the Tamron 90 on the D600 but its not completely terrible. Will be interesting to see how it compares for macro distances, the Pentax 100 macro is pretty darn quick when you get it dialled in and use the limiter.

Need to triple check my settings or try a couple of other lenses, the Tamron seems to need a bit of exposure compensation in strong sunlight. It did come with a hood so I'll give that a crack first. Otherwise it takes nice shots.

is that the Tamron 90 mm? It's legendary and for many years I was longing to have one. Never got one though... I've got two versions of the Nikkor 105mm macro and
couldn't justify another lens - you know how it goes ;) Very nice result (y)

Cheers! Yes, its the generic 90mm Tamron macro - I think they make it in most mounts. I have a few Micro-Nikkors - 55, 60, 105 and 200mm - I just struggle to focus them now my eyesight is getting a bit blurry. They tend to be a little easier adapted on m43 where I can punch-in the focus a bit. Not so much on the D600/D700 where I need to watch for the focus-confirm dot while trying to frame - if they overlaid the dot on the image that would be ideal but sadly its along the bottom row of the OVF display..

w/ the Tamron 90, I'm still on the fence about this one. Will have to do until theres a good deal on a 105mm Micro Nikkor VR G or a Z series 105.

Not the appropriate lens for these shots but it was what I had on at the time + interesting to get a feel for what it can do. Not critically sharp as the wind was blowing so manual focus was always going to be tricky. I like the results though... the 180mm has nice rendering and the pics process well from the D600. Next time I wander into the garden I'll need to pack the 200mm f4 Micro-Nikkor or 100mm f2.8 FA Pentax Macro - if the Monarch caterpillars are emerging it'd be a shame to miss them (and they've certainly been destroying my Swan plants so I feel I'm owed a few shots).
