I continue my ''quest'' to try out, or even keep, if possible, as many old Nikkor AF lenses as I can. This 28-105mm AF-D, I wanted to get for a long time. I got it off eBay, in perfect mechanical and esthetic condition. Inside, there is fungus. It doesn't seem to affect the image quality all that much.. Perhaps, some loss of contrast. The lens must have laid in some warehouse, for a loong time, and collected moist.
It has a neat 1:2 close up mode, that works with AF, unlike some other lenses with similar quasi-macro option. It is a bit trickier to activate and to deactivate macro mode. You have to be in a 50-105mm range to activate the mode, and, you have to (pretty odd and complicated) focus out to >0.5m zone to deactivate.
''Bokehrama'' in a close-up mode.
