Advice Wanted Nikon Z fc SD card error warning

Today while at the flea market, taking my first image I got an error message "Camera cannot communicate with the SD Card. Remove it and replace it with another SD card" or words to that effect.
I took it out, wiped it on my T-shirt and replaced it and thank goodness, it worked.

When I got home, I wiped it down with a microfibre cloth for good measure.

Has this happened to you before? What could the cause be?

Irene, have you checked the copy protection switch on the SD card?

Very good point! However, no, I did not check that, just wiped it and put it back into the camera and then it did work.

I've managed to move the switch by just a tiny bit before, resulting in error messages.

I think it's even possible that you set it back to its position when wiping down the card.

Anyhow, good to know it's working again.
