Over half of all the friends I have had in my life have died.
I've lost touch with most of those who are still alive.
Moving interstate twice contributed greatly to the latter.

I can certainly relate. I've lived a fairly interesting life, but if I could go back I'd be happy for a more mundane life with closer ties to family and friends.
