That's true, and I found it to be cumbersome back when I owned the D90 because I had older lenses I simply could not use. However, there are actual charts that tell you which camera will take which lenses:Hi
I picked up a D90 a while ago, as the D80 I used to have was a good reliable DSLR, but there is no setting for non CPU lenses etc in the menu, , but put an old Vivitar Nikon fit manual lens on it anyway from my F301 , nothing worked, blank screen after taking a photo, not a real prob as it has a zoom lens fitted anyway, but was told that only some Nikon DSLRs can take older glass , although I assumed all Nikon DSLRs could take older lenses, please correct me if I'm wrong , as any info is always helpful.
Thanks, fortunately I have an AF lens fitted anyway, but just would have been handy to use the lenses on my manual 35mm Nikon. That's true, and I found it to be cumbersome back when I owned the D90 because I had older lenses I simply could not use. I didn't know that there was an AF adapter (if that's what you're talking about), but otherwise, yes, that works; I even have a focal reducer somewhere that turned my old 50mm f/1.4 AF into the equivalent of a 35mm f/1 (so, 70mm-e f/2 equivalent on the body - I think it was a E-M10 at the time). It was fun to play around with that combo. But it's more fun to use the AF 50mm f/1.4 on the Df (as well as the D750, comparatively speaking - but I never really gelled with it on that camera: The Df with its more compact body is the more natural home for compact lenses). Thanks, fortunately I have an AF lens fitted anyway, but just would have been handy to use the lenses on my manual 35mm Nikon.
I've had various cameras over the years both film and digital, my old D80 was always a good reliable old camera, so didn't hesitate to but the D90 with a very low shutter count.
I've found out I can get a lens adapter to use a Nikon lens on my micro four thirds Lumix, now there's a thought
Agree that some camera and lens combos just seem to feel right , I hope to pick up a 50mm 1.8 AF lens for the D90 at some point, that'll do me, the fast aperture will be handy in some situations, I'm lazy in some ways and I'm not one to change lenses if I don't have to.I didn't know that there was an AF adapter (if that's what you're talking about), but otherwise, yes, that works; I even have a focal reducer somewhere that turned my old 50mm f/1.4 AF into the equivalent of a 35mm f/1 (so, 70mm-e f/2 equivalent on the body - I think it was a E-M10 at the time). That’s the nature of that Giant Para 222. In its defocused position it creates a beautiful 7 foot ring light producing wonderful lighting on skin and clothing.Great photo's but one thing that really bugs me is the ring light reflection in her eyes and others you've posted.
Maybe it's just me.
