Obsolete Obsolescence Dead Parrots Future Proofing

I've noticed that the Fujishop have not stocked the NP-50 batteries for the past few months

This makes me a bit paranoid that those cameras that use them (X10 for example) may become unusable before their allotted time frame / design life

OK there are plenty of aftermarket versions around now but what of the future?

This very problem happened to me before with my first Canon & the camera is unusable so my experience has taught me to be wary

With this in mind I've just ordered 2 extra spare batteries I can use or mothball to extend usability a little - perhaps 2 may not be enough

I´ve got a Jupio third party battery for my X-E1. In my local camera shop they say it's just as good as the real thing. 20 euros.
Only used it a couple of times so far but it looks good and they offer 3year guarantee over here.
