Animals Oh deer!

I live only a 15 minute drive from Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire, home to quite a large number of Red and Fallow deer. Today's autumn sunshine was glorious, so I headed off there with my new X-T2 & 100-400. I've had an X-T1 since its introduction and am loving the new gear, but this was the big zoom's first proper outing.... How would it cope? Would it be sharp, especially where it counts at the long end? Well, judge for yourselves. I for one couldn't be happier, especially with an 8-day Kenyan safari a mere 2 weeks away...

Those are great!

I did a 2 week trip to africa for safaris a few years back, with the XT1 and XC 50-230. At the last minute, I borrowed a friend's XE2, and put my XF18-55 on it, and I cannot recommend having a second body enough. Not changing lenses in the dust, quick access to 18mm, backup in case of the worst... you're probably planning on it.

I am indeed! Taking my XT1 as a backup body as well as 18-55 and 55-200 for those animals that we get closer to, or for more "animals in their environment" shots
 
The first day we were out, and I mean the first 30 minutes we were inside a park, this happened.

She just came strolling up alongside us, almost brushing the truck. I had no time to switch lenses, so having the second camera with the 18-55 saved me. I cannot describe how angry I would've been if I got no shots of it. (there are more)
