OK, we've had David's review of this lens and Tom's comparison with the 50mm. But this lens is primarily wonderful for making images, so I'll start with a few. I never anticipated using this lens for street shooting - I thought it would be good for family events, sitting around after dinner, etc. I'm used to using a wide angle for street work and hated the couple of times I'd tried it with a long lens, so I didn't think I'd like it at this focal length either. But I love it! You're still close enough to be involved in the scene - you don't feel like a spy or voyeur like you can with a long telephoto, but you can get more intimate more easily. And the wide aperture is wonderful for pulling your subjects out of the muddle around them. We had a chili cook-off in town today, so I took the EPL3 up and shot with the 12 and the 45. These are a small sampling from the 45mm, several more on Flickr...

Looking great, thanks for sharing. Another "must have lens" for mft shooters. My future travel bag will hold EP3 with 12 and 45mm and the splendid X100. All I have to do now is to find a 45mm.

A variety pack from NH...

Thanks for this thread, Ray. Here are a few I took this past weekend visiting a college buddy, Peter, in NH. The 45 was on most the time...followed by the 14 Panny. Locations are: woodworking shop, Falling Waters Trail near Mt Lafayette, home garden...

Nice shots Tom. I'm really drawn to this lens as a portrait lens, so your people shots hold a bit more appeal, but you're obviously seeing what else is possible with it too, which I'm gonna have to explore more...
