OK, we've had David's review of this lens and Tom's comparison with the 50mm. But this lens is primarily wonderful for making images, so I'll start with a few. I never anticipated using this lens for street shooting - I thought it would be good for family events, sitting around after dinner, etc. I'm used to using a wide angle for street work and hated the couple of times I'd tried it with a long lens, so I didn't think I'd like it at this focal length either. But I love it! You're still close enough to be involved in the scene - you don't feel like a spy or voyeur like you can with a long telephoto, but you can get more intimate more easily. And the wide aperture is wonderful for pulling your subjects out of the muddle around them. We had a chili cook-off in town today, so I took the EPL3 up and shot with the 12 and the 45.
