A friend turned 40, so their family invited us to join them on a hike to a little glacial alpine lake in Washington saturday-sunday. This was the first trip like that with our daughter, somehow. We overpacked, and the "easy looking" 2.1 mile hike turned out to be 3/4 uphill, then 1/4 downhill. I was beat just 15 minutes in, and it took 2 hours. But I shuffled along, took breaks, and did ok. The massive head cold I have didn't help much, but hey, you can't see it in the pictures! Speaking of pictures...

The destination lake is bottom center. So you climb up to this ridge, then go along it, then drop down into the bowl.

Found our friends. He pulled several east coast species of trout out of this lake... someone stocked it once with brookies and browns.

Low light with the 18-55... requires some timing and patience. Wait til a face is lit up by a headlamp and not moving much.
