Hi all,

my name is André and I have been digitizing the past for some time now.

If you are interested, I would like to present my project: "Past of a Stranger" - or: Photographic time travels into the past, captured by strangers.

https://www.pastofastranger.com

I have currently published twelve very different collections, most of which were acquired at flea markets. I digitize the treasures (slides, glass slides, photo plates & negatives) via camera and light plate.

Enjoy browsing through the past,
André

What a nice project! I really enjoyed the collections from Sweden and Yosemite. That photo of the fire fall is fantastic. Keep it up!

I noticed a couple of misspellings:
  • Abisko was spelled Absiko
  • Half Dome peak was spelled Hall Dome peak
  • Wawona was spelled Wanona

Correcting those might help someone find the photos when searching the internet.

Very interesting and appreciate the post. I have noticed old slides from way back in time being sold on eBay for a small price, pictures taken by tourists on holiday in London in say the 1960s or even further back, which is of interest to me as that's where I'm from. It's good to see you taking that a lot further, you may well be inspiring me to do something similar, albeit not as as well as how you've been doing it.

Let's go! eBay UK & US is full of beautiful slides and negatives - but with the horrendous postage costs to Germany I can hardly afford it.

I got the "R.T. Simpson" collection (Link) from the UK - it was a nice find.

Fantastic series..Very interesting looking into a world gone by!
So many images in todays digital (throwaway)society get deleted if they are grainy or Not razor sharp , But in film days that wasn't an option so we embraced them all...just goes to show a great image is still a great image! In this digital age we tend to Zoom in 200 percent to check every detail down to the eyelashes and if it isnt sharp..We either delete or leave it floating in limbo on our hard drives.
Great series and I look forward to looking at the full sets.

I have published a new collection: Road Trip through South America (Chile, Argentina and Bolivia) in a Ford County. These are slides (35mm) from 1976.

Happy time traveling. :)

Hey again!

I have just published a new collection:

The photographic collection of David L. Friedman from Long Island, NY comprises slides from the years 1968 to 1977, showing street scenes from New York City, impressions of the first “Earth Day” in 1970 and expressive portraits. The collection offers fascinating insights into the culture and everyday life of this formative period.
