At least the nose is in focus. Could really use eye detect. Then again trying to take a cat selfie with one arm outstretched and not having a tilting screen is another hassle. 50mm on APSC is quite a tight focal length too. I do like the blur better here, softens nicely away from the focal plane when the background is fairly neutral.

Absolutely the worst birding lens but this was opportunistic while I was shooting bees. The birds must be newly hatched as they rarely get this close and stick around long enough for a heavy macro to try and acquire focus through a large (& noisey) range. Had a 200mm f4 Macro on the D600 which was also terrible for similar reasons - manually focussing that thing on distant objects was no fun either!

The super annoying thing about the K-01 is that the live-view shows the potential of the sensor but the glacial responsiveness can often mean you're going to miss the shot. Real shame they didn't do a K-02... maybe give the design to a different shop... get Dieter Rams or Giorgetto Giugiaro to do the next one (I'm guessing the first would be 70's super-minimalist and the second would be 80's angular)

Cat caught two mice last night, I free'd one at about 11pm and she found another one at mid-night which I was to tired to do anything about (in typical cat fashion she released it in the lounge). Found it when I got home from work this afternoon and managed to free it from under the couch. Cat still thinks its somewhere in the house...

LOL . . . mine woke me crying at 2 AM a few nights ago. Her meow sounded funny, and my sleep-deprived brain thought she was sick at first. Then I realized she was carrying something in her mouth. Then she thought it would be cute to let it run around so her brother could join in the fun. Cats.

K-01 speed is still soooooo slow and it appears to have developed the wierd shutter issue the K-30 is known for. Fingers x-ed its just intermittant. The 15mm f4 continues to impress - pretty sharp close up, and I mean very very close.
