Is it a combination of attributes or something in particular?
The EPL3 was a slim body with the flip down screen, making it an excellent waist level shooter. The PL series in general were the most experimental of the pens. The first three were very different cameras but each pretty neat in it’s own way.

Even though the OMD line is Olympus’ flagship series, the Pens were far more varied. This was especially true for the 12 mp models. The subsequent 16 MP sensor was better in every way and the IBIS in the early models was best turned off. Still, the 12 MP sensor was easily good enough to do quality photography. These cameras had similar capabilities but with different body styles and control arrangements. So, I built myself a collection of the 12 MP bodies both as a bit of camera collecting but also as a source of challenge and inspiration to keep my shooting experience fresh. These camera are nicely made but require more attention to detail to get good images. It was kind of a silly thing to do but I’ve gotten much pleasure from my little experiment. in a similar vein, I’ve also looked at the 12 MP Nikon D3 but that thing is just so big. Still, I would like to try shooting with what was at the time the quintessential professional camera.

I really liked the PEN 12s too. PM1 was my gateway into ML.
And the differences. I remember thinking whoever designed the PL1 was a much different person than the P1 but once in hand and looking at the files it didn't matter.

You should try the D3 if just for a short while.
I've always wanted to try a D2X.
Maybe now that I have a few F-mount lenses I'll give it a shot.

HI, I do not come here that often anymore but funny as this was the first thread I read today and I have just sold all my Fuji Gear as it has not been used for a long time. I gave my wife my first fuji the X-E1 plus the Zeiss 50mm touit and Fuji XF 16-55mm f/2.8 the rest is sold or up for sale. Now I am happy more with the Nikon Z and I have a few Pentax Q camera/lenses as my pocket camera which are still great little cameras. I also sold My Leica cameras but so far have kept the lenses as they work great on the Nikon Z 7. I was never one to review my gear until this past year being stuff at home all day and trying to sell used camera gear here can be a bit of a nightmare so that put me off a lot but better to let someone get the use of it than it sitting in a cupboard gathering dust. Sorry if I took over this thread a little but it just hit me that this was the first one I have read here in a while and I have just done the same thing as it titles.

The D700 comes to mind ... They can be had for little money these days, and the sensor is the same. Still big, but not huge.

Dang it, Matt. As I was reading your reply, I thought "Gee, if you've embraced the lower MP vibe, there's a nifty fifty and a lot of nice old Nikon DSLRs out there". Take note, I may have documented the exact beginning of my financial downfall.

I have been studying both the D700 and the EOS5D MkII over the last weeks, so you are not alone. Stumbled over this fellow on the tube of yous, Fredrik Boving, and he is probably the Motherload when it comes to contemporary D700 content. You`re welcome!
No need to go far - just check out @Bart J D on this board ... :D

It turns out that a gentleman with disposable income can get a used D700 and a nifty fifty for under $500. I have also discovered the condition descriptor “heavily used” on MPB when searching for D3 and D700 bodies.

So? Do you think you'll keep looking for one? I see used "very good" examples on Amazon for under $500 and "like new" for $799. Even what looks like a brand-new one for $1299:

I'm at that strange spot where it feels like I'm waiting for the other shoe to hit the floor.

Don't know if I'll get what I pre-ordered, or when.

I haven't been this excited about a camera release since the K-1.

Hoping the camera is at least close to the hype, yet knowing time after time I get something new and it misses the mark by "that much".

If I get a kit, and if the new OVF works well with my eyes, and if the new AF plays well with my existing lenses and does what I need it to for aircraft and birds...

I'll be in a zone of gear clarity I've been trying to achieve for years now. One system covering APS-C and FF, action and landscape, all lenses and accessories shared between bodies, that works well with my eyes and is comfortable for my hands and fingers.

Color me "cautiously optimistic".

I've recently found myself in kind of a bad spot. Most likely I'm going to put the 50-140 I bought during the rebates up for sale. The bad part is will be at a loss. But, I find I am not going out and shooting any musicians. Nor do I feel the desire to. The band made up of good friends of mine I will still go see. I can shoot with the 16-55, or mid length prime. I do have a battery grip and hand grip for the X-T3 I acquired cheap enough that I can sell and get the money back out of which will help with the loss on the 50-140.

The other down side for a former gear ho. Is that there are not any lenses I'm lusting after. This may turn into just downsizing.
