The EPL3 was a slim body with the flip down screen, making it an excellent waist level shooter. The PL series in general were the most experimental of the pens. The first three were very different cameras but each pretty neat in it’s own way.@drd1135
Is it a combination of attributes or something in particular?
Even though the OMD line is Olympus’ flagship series, the Pens were far more varied. This was especially true for the 12 mp models. The subsequent 16 MP sensor was better in every way and the IBIS in the early models was best turned off. Still, the 12 MP sensor was easily good enough to do quality photography. These cameras had similar capabilities but with different body styles and control arrangements. So, I built myself a collection of the 12 MP bodies both as a bit of camera collecting but also as a source of challenge and inspiration to keep my shooting experience fresh. These camera are nicely made but require more attention to detail to get good images. It was kind of a silly thing to do but I’ve gotten much pleasure from my little experiment. in a similar vein, I’ve also looked at the 12 MP Nikon D3 but that thing is just so big. Still, I would like to try shooting with what was at the time the quintessential professional camera.
