Man O' War Vineyard, Waiheke Island. Situated on Man O' War Bay. Captain Cook dropped the Endeavour's anchor near here in November 1769. He noted that the shoreline of the bay provided good fresh water, and a plentiful supply of kauri. The name of the bay refers to the kauri trees that were considered ideal for masts and spars for the fighting ships of the Royal Navy.
