I know I could get a base plate but I don’t really want that. Is there any protection film, etc., that people know of to keep the bottom of a camera from getting scratched? I can find stuff online, but I’m curious if anyone has had any actual experience with something like this?

For me, I would never stick anything with an adhesive to my camera. I have a couple of Leica cameras with half-cases. I use these for the grip, but they also provide protection for the bottom of the camera. I have no protection on my Olympus OM-1 which has traveled extensively including a safari last fall. The paint is very slightly rubbed off at the bottom corners which just adds character in my opinion.

FYI, I did get the Small Rig baseplate/grip and it works fine, although the grip leaves very little room for fingers with anything but the smallest lenses. Fortunately, I do tend to use those lenses on the X-T50.

Imagine how lucky I felt being able to find a camera I'd been looking for for close to 40 yrs and finding one with a bottom that looks like this.
