Ricoh Ricoh GXR + 28mm module

I've only had my GXR for a couple of weeks (I know... late to the game), but I'm smitten. I can't even consider replacing it at this point. I originally had the new GR on pre-order, but after spending some time with the A12 28/2.5 Module, I just couldn't justify it, especially considering I paid about half of what I would have on the GR. Anyway... After a couple of weeks, here are a few images from my new favorite camera kit:

C&C always appreciated! :D

Great shots! I really like the last one, and I'm not really partial to B&W. The first two go together really well, by the way - if you ever print them, you should consider putting them up just like they're displayed on the page now (or you could make a digital collage ofcourse)!

Thanks! I hadn't thought of printing them before, but they do sort of look good displayed how they are. I never really looked at them together. Might have to make space on the wall for them. :D

Lovely shots!
I have just finally taken the leap into the GXR system - having found a cheap deal on the camera body & A12 50mm & A12 M Mount on ebay & then the A12 28mm cheap from another seller & the viewfinder from yet another seller. All good prices.
I was very very tempted to get the GXR a few years ago but instead opted for the Canon Eos 7d. Now - I'm seeking a lighter more portable & 'fun' alternative & came running back to the GXR which I have always had a secret crush on!

What focussing mode did you use here to capture such clarity on those bees & flowers?

Any helpful hints, heads ups & advice on my upcoming GXR foray would be so appreciated!

Cheers & look forward to sharing some shots :)

Slowly getting a handle on the interface. Is the GR series like this? Its frankly nuts. Similar eraNikon, Pentax, Oly & Pana cameras have a waaaay better control schema (why is Continuous shooting always off, and the My Set doesn't remember everything and Aperture, Shutter & Focus seem less important in terms of button/dial assignment than Exposure Control.... Argh!)

Ah well, might leave it on 'P' mode, master the focus controls and be done with the rest of the layout.

Will annoy people with cat pics until I can get it out of the house for some more interesting pics.

Sun came out after 4-5 days of near continuous rain. Took the GXR out for a quick spin.
Honestly still a bit mystified by this camera. AF seems really shonky. Will try again with the peaking - see if it focuses where I want it to. Sensor is hard to get a handle on - haven't seen anything that would 'wow' me yet. My E-P1 would run circles around this. I do like the heft/build tho. Also the control layout; unfortunately the firmware doesn't really optimise the controls much.

Still a bit flummoxed by this thing. Took 20-30 shots, a bunch with AF, some with zone/snapshot and others with centre/spot focus. About 75% missed. Wild for a wide lens. The snap definitely has potential which I'll explore a bit more. Love the feel of this camera. Pics are nice (if unspectacular) when it hits the right thing.

Love the physical handling & feel but hate the control UI. Forgot to import the DNG's so these are slightly processed jpgs.

Lens is pretty good as a walkabout. Feels much better than me talking potshots around the house & garden.

Since the demise of my K-01, the GXR is going to fill the roll of my most mediocre camera. I'll try and carry it around as I get back into the office routine and take some more shots with it. If I can get some half decent shots with it in spite of its horrible UI it should put me in good stead for anything better.
