It's one of the main holes in the Fuji lens lineup for me. 400-500mm eq is where I'm comfortable; its something Nikon, Canon, even m4/3 all have but that Fuji X has been missing.

The red badge 100-400 exists, and it's good.

Given that, I guess this one isn't a red badge one, with lighter body and price tag.

Not necessarily. The 16-80 is a constant f4 but not a red badge lens. I’m betting this will be similar to the 16-80 with the idea that people will use the pair together. Similar to the 18-55/55-200 and 16-55/50-140.

If the 70-300 is a constant f4 and weather resistant. It and the 16-80 would be an awesome travel zoom pair.

Constant f/4 would be pretty big I fear. Compare the Fuji 100-400 and 55-200 to the Pentax APS-C 60-250 f/4. A 70-300 f/4 would probably be bigger than the Pentax and pretty close in size to the Fuji 100-400.

The 70-300 is happening with a f4-5.6 aperture. It this thing is WR and can take a TC it would be a perfect long range solution for me.

I don’t need it to be that far away. But when trying to get photographs of things like eagles or surfers. I can’t really get to them.
