Yes, the townspeople thing is well expressed.Mikey likes it . I always enjoy his reviews. About the DP2M comparison, I know exactly what he means about townspeople and pitchforks too.
I would consider it at $1500-$1600 + $250 for for the optical viewfinder. Smart move with the ISO 50 because of this:Just wait a year.....there will be plenty of used ones for around $1600. That's when I jump in.
I think even then unless you print larger than say 12 x 18 you are going to have a hard telling the difference between this camera and the X100 or the OMD with a good lens on it. I print that large with the X100 and I can't tell the difference between that and the Nikon D700 with the 35mm F1.4G unless you are looking at DOF. It looks like a really nice camera and it has a very good lens on it. It does look kind of unbalanced/strange to me with the viewfinder on it. I guess I'm old fashioned but I wouldn't buy a camera without a viewfinder.Nice idea. The Sony seems good, but unless you print it strikes me as overkill. The VFs kill it's looks.
Remind him of what he said a few weeks before your birthday, just shortly after you've lovingly polished his shoes!I told my dad about the RX1 - full frame, nice integrated lens, and they managed to make it smaller than his E-M5 and PL25 by a good margin. He was very surprised by how little they are charging for it. I don't share that perspective but found it to be an interesting one.
