Lucille,
You use a lot of OOC JPEGs, right?. I like your colors. Which settings do you normally use? Or does it change much?
Thanks
The JPEGS out of the Rx1 are the best I have seen, I know others disagree and that's ok, as we are all different, every picture I have ever posted here on this forum from my Rx1 or A7 is a JPEG.
I usually shoot in manual mode, but sometimes in full auto letting the camera decide all things. If I need to power on and fire fast I have trusted auto mode.
In Manual my settings always change due to the light. I tend to be one that shoots with as large as a aperture as I can, f/2.0 if possible, because of this I often have a faster shutter speed unless I am in a lowlight situation that requires a
slow speed. ISO is the setting that I change the least, but I will change it if I am 'out of aperture or shutter speed' for a given situation.
All a camera does is collect light, and our images is our sensors interpretation of that light. ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture all work hand in hand, making photography a game of compromises. One effects the other, I learned this early on.
I try and shoot at a low ISO as possible, and I often under expose a tad, then bump up brightness in post. I believe that by doing this I get fuller, richer colors..
I have had people on forums tell me to ETTR, expose to the right, nope, that's not for me, I have my own way of doing things and I like to think my images have a certain look to them, I know in the car world with the locals, they know
if I shot a particular car image or not, I was recently told this by a group of people at a car meet, that they could see 10 images by different photog's and they knew which were mine... Which is kinda want I wanted, my own look.
