Hey folks. I have a new RX100 set to AF-S and it seems to continue to focus on its own when I just point it at anything. I also turned off face tracking. What have I missed?
The 'Welcome to Sony' sign. From how I remember it the AF system on your RX100 is always on duty, in either AF mode, same as on my NEXes, unless you set it to DMF mode (saves some energy) but then you can't use the control ring for anything else but manual focusing.Hey folks. Again same as on my (ex-)NEXes, I've just been too lazy to list all those options. The issue I'm having with DMF is that it doesn't allow manual focusing unless the AF has locked first but then my (ex-)NEXes don't need that much contrast as my X-Pro1. The X-Pro though does AF in MF mode and allows manual intervention at any time so I just leave it in MF mode most of the time. You're right, but this is overcome by setting the centre button function to AF/MF control toggle. This allows focus/recompose shooting, and the control ring is available for zoom function when the DMF has been toggled to OFF. The only real disadvantage is that after toggling to DMF for focus/recompose shooting, one needs to remember to toggle back again.
Nothing to worry about, just grab a couple spares.I don't actually mind it focussing but I assume that will drain the battery much more quickly.
Some weeks ago I had the Mark III for a couple days, played with some RAWs and couldn't believe it. It's even better but I have that ongoing strange relationship with my little Fujis.Impressive IQ, BTW.
Thanks. I have version 1. I'll check, however.Hi , I don't know which RX100 you have, but on my M3 you go to:
Menu
Second tab from the left
page 2
lowest option: Pre-AF.
So you can switch it off. (I did)
Hope this helps.
