This looks like a very nice little device indeed. But £1150?

Well it's a bit more than slightly tweaked I think, with a much longer zoom (if slower). I assume this is Sony's response to the Panasonic TZ100. With that price differential they'll be lucky to make much of a dent.Slightly tweaked Version of the last one... I suppose Apple and others can get away with it...
Yes I'm sure Sony would much prefer if people buy a mk V and a mk VI, but realisticly I don't think there would be any way of increasing the focal range and keeping the aperture as fast as the older version.I don't think it's a matter of "upgrading" from one's RX100 Mark III, IV or V to the Mark VI. I'm pretty sure this is meant to either complement the other versions or be purchased instead of them, depending on one's needs.
To me it looks like a reaction to the Panasonic TZ100/200 cameras, apparently Sony sees a market there they want to get into.
I have a TZ/ZS100 myself. And it's a great little travel camera. But I'll bet the RX100 VI is a more capable device. The only question is, how much is one willing to pay for it? In the U.S., the Sony costs twice as much money as the Panasonic.
It had better be a lot more capable considering the cost
But will it somehow be better than its origins, the TZ200?Looks like Sony isn't going to be alone on the market with a very expensive 1" camera.

Looks pretty good in the gold!
Supposedly Leica puts in their own firmware and JPEG processing and you used to get a very nice software bundle as well. If you're shooting raw and have the software you need I'm guessing you get a red dot and a fancy color scheme, and maybe better resale value. But will it somehow be better than its origins, the TZ200?
