Rainbow ā€“ The Series #01 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Rainbow is a sculpture by Perth artist Marcus Canning which today dominates the northern entrance to Fremantle.

Rainbow which was commissioned by the City of Fremantle is nine-metre-high, 19 metres long and weighs in at a mere 66 tonnes.

Whenever I go past, which is most days, people are always there interacting with it. A truly masterful piece of art in the City.

One way to oxygenate the pond - Kemenuh Butterfly Park, Bali, Indonesia by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

I do like the defiant pose of this ā€œmanā€ as he oxygenates the fishpond at the Kemenuh Butterfly Park.

We spent a fair bit of time exploring the Kemenuh Butterfly Park in Bali, Indonesia. I can highly recommend it if you are in Bali and in the Ubud area.

Oxygenating the fishponds at the Kemenuh Butterfly Park is a full-time job it seems.

Robert Lois Stevenson with Modestine - Chabalier - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D6-12 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Having ascended La Mourade we continued following the railway line to our next hamlet of Chabalier where we stopped to say hi to Modestine and Mr Stevenson.

Day 6 of 12 - La Bastide-Puylaurent to Chasserades: Walking the Chemin de Stevenson (GR 70 Robert Louis Stevenson Trail) in the south of France.

This is most hated, and if not hated, just ignored statue in our town. It was offered by Soviet Union at the time and couldnā€™t be resisted and needed to be placed on a square to give it enough respect. However city council found a good place for it just outside the inner city.
Now things have changed and city is needing this square and surroundings to be developed. I bet this statue will not find a place within new high money condos by the sea :D

Chimera by Susan Flavell
by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Chimera is Susan Flavell's representation of the mythical monster of the Lycean civilisation. In Greek mythology, the chimera was a fire-breathing female monster with a lionā€™s head, a goatā€™s body, and a serpentā€™s tail, which ravaged the lands of the Lycean coast with her fiery breath until she was slain by the hero Bellerophon with the aid of the flying horse Pegasus.

The sculpture is on loan to the City of Fremantle from Kerry Harmanis until 2023.
