Sand Sculptures crafted at the festival were the highlight.
Many of the artists had it right.

Nice! Your photos are something that preserves an art form that totally embodies the definition of "ephemeral". I sometimes wonder how people can do such art only to see it destroyed.

Never gave that aspect much thought this summer,
Now that I have ... that is a bummer.
When I was there a wayward toddler, at Moby Dick, made a beeline,
While "Mom ... MOM! ... MOM!!!", the artist shouted out a scream and a whine.

The destruction and fading existence may just be part of the art form,
When creating sand sculptures this may be the norm.
Similar to a meteorite, burning across the skies,
For only a few seconds art is born ... and then it dies.

Very cool Gary. Once again my favorite aspect of your work is how you manage to get those tight shots that nail the details and fill the frame with interest.

I am not exaggerating when I say I think of that quite often when I'm shooting, to hopefully inspire me to do the same. Not there yet, but once in a while I feel I've channeled just a little Gary in my shots :p
