A date for the diary
There will be celebrations in Kingsbridge on September 14th to mark the 800th anniversary of the granting of a charter to hold a market in the town. The charter was granted to the Abbot of Buckfast so that monks could sell honey, beeswax candles and mead (an alcoholic drink made from honey).

I went out for a bike ride starting 1/2 hour before sunrise this morning. Very foggy along the river. 10.5 miles, and I never saw a single person.

Oh the tidal road at Aveton Gifford, not far from me. I also knew one of the guys who built the first sea tractor for Burgh Island, he used to be my neighbour and drove it out to Bigbury from Kingsbridge early one Sunday morning, probably in the early 1950's, small world.
