Unburying some old images. High on a hilltop overlooking a nearby river valley town is a trail I used to hike. On that trail is a memorial to a young high school student who died in an automobile accident about 13 years ago. This must have been a favorite site of hers, because it is a long steep climb to reach it, and somebody went to a fair bit of work for the memorial. Someone used to come by from time to time to keep it tidy, but it was rather unkempt the last time I was there. I used to go there to meditate a bit. It is peaceful and evocative at the same time. We lost our oldest son a month before his 15th birthday, so the place always prompted a lot of memories.
