Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

We were camped down at Southern end of the John S. Thompson Bridge near Grave, named after Lt Thompson and the 15 men of the 504th, 82nd Airborne who captured it with a surprise attack at the start of Market-Garden. This was "Bridge 11" in the Operation.

I participated in this Living History event last weekend as a US Army cameraman.


My dad was apparently in line to be sent in as infantry if the operation hadn't stalled at Arnhem. He'd had a pretty easy, non-eventful time of it in the war, working for the Signals Corp and then the British Forces Network, and was very relieved he didn't have to face action. As am I, since there was a good chance he wouldn't have come back home to marry my mother...
