Smartphones > small sensors > high resolution > low DR?
Modern camera > big sensors > rather low resolution > high DR?
Human eye > 500 - 600 MP > DR?

Human eye: Good DR. You need some exposure bracketing to be able to capture the same range with current sensors.
Only a matter of time before they are there though. Maybe today's good cellphones with multi-exposure (HDR) is close?
I wish the raw files would retain that information though. Imagine how much you could drag the sliders if they had more bit depth.

The apparent Dynamic Range of the human eye seems fantastic only because the pupil adjusts itself to the overall scene brightness while the brain composites what the eyes have taken in...but within the range of one scene, its DR is not so terrific...the eye and the modern digital camera are not so dissimilar in that regard, 10-14 stops is common claim.

State-of-the-art random sample above, do not know how long it will be before getting into a camera.
