Sorry for the brief downtime this afternoon. We've changed servers, and there should be a noticeable boost in overall site speed now.
Frankly, I wonder if it isn't just the servers choking down on the bandwidth until you decide to pay more. This site doesn't seem to have grown any that I can see. Do you have any sort of measurable metrics that explain the slowdown?
My sites' visitors are occasionally getting MySQL "too many connections" errors. For example, my sites were unusable from ~midnight to 1AM EST last night because everyone was getting these errors. I was wondering whether my site's needs are exceeding our current hosting plan. If so, I would appreciate your advice about what upgrade we should consider.
The "max_connections" setting in the mySQL configuiration file was set to the default 200 connections. I've increased this to 500 and restarted mySQL. Would you like to try this out and let us know if you receive any errors tonight?
It's always a little weird paying for something that you can't actually see. Water usage bills I'm pretty sure are just random numbers pulled out of the air.
