You were probably right, but I have no clue. All I know is that to get a realtively shallow DoF with a compact, I need the subject to be a long way separate from the background, and I could never get a shot like that of this grevillea with a compact. The whole flower would be in focus, and some of the background as well. And I would never get bokeh like that either.sorry it turned out to be such a long read!
