You know, it seems I am at it again - as I write this, the forum suggests me three threads from 2011-2013 from yours truly.

After a much needed sleep I woke up surrounded by the Feline Elements, noticed it was too late for a stroll in Florence and decided to play nearer to the west.

You know, I really like this little gem. It’s really forgiving of mistakes, it allows you to play, and it is quite transparent - nothing between you and the picture.
The picture above is a rare out of camera via the cam remote app, showing this late medieval /early modern street with the Old Hospital at the end.

And that’s why.

I have fond memories of Siena from a visit nearly 20 years back and you've captured it wonderfully. Your post reminds me that it's long since time for a return visit.

Actually it's Pistoia, I forgot to mention it as that's what I think of when I say nearer to the west. Getting to Siena involves a car trip bordering Florence and then heading south - more a day outing than a late morning stroll - and it's a place I really love to see
Here it is on the day Italy lifted the first lockdown in 2020 - nearly nobody around, eight people eating in the Campo, and the Duomo closed with limited access to local parishioners to pray:

and Monteriggioni also almost empty of the ubiquitous bus contingent:
