Inspired by Peter's post regarding panning shots of cyclists, I'll ask members about photographing track and field events. I spend a fair amount of time at track events this time of year, and find them enjoyable - at least on the warm and dry days.

But... they're difficult to capture well. Cycling events seem much easier by comparison, or at least offer greater photographic interest. Let's see some great shots, and hear about your suggestions on technique.

Thanks,
David

Great theme David. Will be interesting to see what transpires. I may have 1 or 2 (if I can find them). Maybe we could include other sports? (Soccer, rugby, boxing etc)

Very hard to shoot track, I find, without falling into cliche. It would be easy to reach the end of an event and have the photos resemble every. other. meet. Dramatic weather helps, though. Yesterday was bucketing rain, hail, even a little sun. Didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors.
