We came to the end of a Forest Service road and had to make a trail through a section of forest to a creek. Push our bikes down the creek a little ways so we could access another road. This was during a 400 mile (643km) ride through Oregon and Washington.

People I know think I'm nuts when I do a 30-40 mile day ride. Not certain I have it in me to do 400.

If you can do 30-40 mile rides then you are definitely capable of a 400 mile tour. 😃

We sold our house to live on our bikes for the rest of our retirement. Decided against an RV or van. Leaving for Australia on November 1st to ride around it for a year.

We should be back home around mid to end of November, Nivaun.

Okay. We will probably be in Tassie by then. The lowest cost we found was on the 11th of November. That will give us a nine day introduction to navigating Australia. Looking at the ferry prices we want to get there before they go up. Looks like we won't make it back to the mainland until January when the ferry cost comes down again. Unless we can find a private boat willing to take us across.

Nivaun, we will either be well and truly back in Melbourne by January, or dead ... ;) .

Out and about on my new bike. It was a present to myself for surviving prostate cancer... I got the "all clear" last week. As us chaps sit on our prostate (or lack of one!) on a bike saddle I've gone for squishy tyres, a suspension seatpost and an Ergon saddle... I'm taking no chances!

That's great news Colin.
I was getting a bit worried that we'd not seen or heard you out and about much, so I'm delighted to hear you've got the all-clear and are venturing out a-wheel.
Take care mate. (y)
