I've always thought these were Red Headed Woodpeckers, for obvious reasons. Tonight I was corrected by a bird person. It is a Red Bellied Woodpecker. Hopefully someday I will get a shot of their belly to find out why.

Although this Egret appears to be having trouble with it's reluctant dinner it only took a couple of shakes, a gulp...and down the hatch!!

So here I am, standing under a tree, minding my own business, when this dove guy starts cooing (loudly) at me. As soon as I glance up, he shuts his beak, trying to look away. "Who, me? I didn't say anything. I'm not even here."

amazing how light they are. This one is resting on a leaf that would be about 6mm or 1/4" wide and it hardly bends it

Ah, the elusive Mud Footed Yellowlegs. Nice catch!

Out at my local morning stop for waterfowl shots I spent about 20 minutes waiting for a Lesser Yellowlegs to strike the ideal pose close enough, and with enough animation for him to be interesting. He never did. But this little sparrow sat over my shoulder singing it's heart out the whole time. The lyrics sounded like "Hey look at me, I'm up here in this tree".
