Walking along a local (Ashland, Oregon) nature trail, I kept hearing repeated calls and cries of a red-tailed hawk. It turns out it was flying in relatively low circles over the tall tree where its nest obviously was. It kept calling after I had left the vicinity. In this picture, its beak is open - in mid-call, I believe.

In the same stream (which runs along a nature path in Ashland, Oregon), I spotted a pair of mallards.
The female kept dipping her head down as she swam along.

Eventually, both mallards moved over next to the reeds near the riverbank, and the male began 'dabbling' in earnest, ducking his head underwater to search for tasty aquatic plants or snails, while tipping his oh-so-cute tail skyward.

Before long, the female joined in.
They kept at it for some time.

If I were a dabbling duck, I'd know where to go, now.
