Birds Show Birds

I wasn’t out to shoot birds, but when one flies by I can’t help myself.

You know it's a slow day when the only birds you can shoot are pigeons.

At least they pop out with the still drab winter colours (or lack of).

They are still good practice, if not predictable, for tracking birds in flight.

Magpies are still one of my favourite birds to shoot as a challenge, really fast, really shy, and really high-contrast subject.

The local swans float about.

Wish I brought some food with me for them.

The only bird on a stick for today.

Substantially cropped, but what a marvellous sight this morning - my daughter thinks it's a jackal buzzard, which was being chased by a flock of redwing starlings

Yeah ..... WOW! That is some sight to see alright. I've had magpies, spurwing plovers and gulls having a good go at Hawks here, but nothing close enough to get anything decent from them. Nice shots and work.

I don't shoot birds much, never been very good at it. I'm more of a shoot whatever is in front of me kinda guy. Having said that I was pretty pleased with these taken while on holiday in Cuba a few years ago.
