A juvenile Cooper's hawk that I was lucky enough to spot, just outside the house of friends on the Oregon coast - fluffing out its wings and feathers just prior to taking flight.

Thanks. Yes, Carolina Chickadee. There are also Black-capped chickadees, but further north, I believe. I am familiar with the Coal Tit.

So, I was just reading in the living room when some movement on the other side of the vertical blinds on the patio door caught my eye. This fellow was sitting on the railing. I was able to grab my camera but didn't have time to change the settings so the ISO was a bit high. Cooper's Hawk.

Thanks,John. Ironic that I've been trying to get a good shot of this bird for years, on hikes and around the neighborhood, but it wasn't until he dropped in and decided to pose for me that it finally happened.
