Birds Show Birds

Stunning shots, Tony! My favourite: The black-crowned night heron. Wonderful eyes :)
Thanks, Sue. Yes, their eyes are quite stunning. Soon I'll post a series of the amazing transformation these herons undergo. From the changes in their eyes and plumage during the transition from juvenile to adult form, you'd swear they were unrelated birds!

Here's a few of my favorite wide-angle shots. Again, wild, hand-held, no cropping.

I often title the first shot "Snowy Egret Ballet."

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gumdrops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra
Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see
Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra,
That's no monkey, that's me.

Here's a series of Snowy Egret photos featuring side-lighting, which remains my favorite way to light the subject. Hand-held, no cropping.
