Good Afternoon,

I decided that Daylight Savings Time means "get out in the kayak", so out I went. Surprised to see one of the stalwart GBH back already. We are scheduled to get another snowfall of up to 4 inches Tuesday night, so I hope that it doesn't kill-off this and other ones that have made the long flight back to CT. Taken with the 1D Mark III (1.3 crop, 10 Mpix) and Sigma 100-400 C zoom.

Regards,

Edd

First shots with the Sony A350. Lousy light but couldn't wait to try it out. These are with the Minolta 100-400 APO. Not super pleased with the noise, evidently this camera doesn't do well at ISO 800. Took more NR than I'd like. Shots I was able to overexpose fared a bit better.

Evidently the Carolina Wren is a Wrens.

Finally caught the Bluejay. He's usually in and out in a second.

I'm pleasantly shocked you were able to get these shots with that screw-y-focusing lens!

I have 12 A-Mount lenses and use them extensively on my E-Mount cameras. The newer LA-EA5 adapter is fantastic, much better than the older adapters. It's a shame it will only work on Sony's more recent bodies. I use it on my A74 but have to use an LA-EA4 on my A7RIII. The difference is night and day. Depending on the lens some aren't much different than using an E-Mount. The Minolta 80-200/2.8 APO HS G is an example. It will track and AF just like an E-Mount. It would probably suffer with a faster camera like an A9 or A1, but it has no problem keeping up with the A74. I use the combination for my lower light evening shots at the drag strip.

Doesn’t look to shabby at all! You seem to have managed the noise well.

Thanks, I suspect you're looking at them on a phone! :laugh1:

They looked kind of clumpy after denoising. I'll get it out when there some sun, this lens isn't very fast, a stop or two would've made a big difference. I'd love to see the DR and read noise for this camera, but it's so old I can't find them anywhere.
