White Winged Dove pair is nesting just outside my apartment patio. Being careful with time and activity on the patio - don't want to spook them into abandoning the nest.

X-H1, 100-400, slight crop.

A white-necked heron. I've never seen one before but apparently they are quite common. White-necked Heron | BIRDS in BACKYARDS

My wife and I were out on a bike ride along WV's Greenbrier River when a smallish hawk landed on the trail directly ahead of us. It was very vocal, and a larger hawk in the top of a nearby tree seemed to be answering. The larger hawk took to the air, and the smaller hawk flew up into the trees, but still within our sight. We kept creeping forward bit by bit, and the small hawk flapped from tree to tree, never going far, and always with its shrill cry. The larger hawk answered back each time, but it was clearly gaining altitude and getting farther away. The smaller hawk finally flew away, but not before I got some decent images.
