True, Mike. But I don't think that there is any other way to construct a keystone arch.

My question was really how the builders managed the water flow while they were building it (cf. The Boulder Dam build).

People are amazingly ingenious, and that hasn't really changed in thousands of years. Just the technology is different. I'm fascinated by TBMs, for just one example.

At the other end of things, the video card in my main workstation has something like 5 billion components. It's mind-blowing!
